Born and based in Haines, Alaska, Sarah is a ceramicist and printmaker whose work is inspired by the wild beauty and spiritual depth of her home landscape. Working under the name Lyoness, she explores themes of impermanence, the sacred, and ritual through her mediums. Her art practice is deeply informed by her life as a chef, gardener, and owner of the Old Field Kitchen, where community, creativity and nourishment intertwine.

Sarah was born and raised in Haines, Alaska surrounded by ceramicists, painters, weavers, woodworkers, boat builders and musicians. She studied glass blowing and sculpture at the California College of Arts and Crafts and glass sculpture and print making at the Osaka University of Art in Japan.

In addition to her commercial work, she’s also currently documenting traditional food preparation techniques in Sardinia for a forthcoming book to be published by Maginot Press.
